China Resources and HKSTP Launch Initiative, Helping Startups Succeed in International Markets

China Resources and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) have co-launched the ‘Beyond Dreams’ initiative, aiming to support high-potential startups in the Hong Kong Science Park.

Supported by a donation of HK$100million from the CR Charitable Foundation to support innovation and technology (I&T) talent, China Resources and HKSTP have launched the ‘China Booster’ project. This initiative plans to provide acceleration programmes and support for innovative tech companies, strengthening their market presence in both Hong Kong and Mainland China, leveraging China Resources’ industrial and business resources.

The launch comes shortly after HKSTP’s inaugural Global Booster Programme delivered impressive results in September earlier this year. Five technology enterprises underwent a rigorous six-month training programme in Silicon Valley, where they explored opportunities in North American and other overseas markets. Building on this success, HKSTP and China Resources are looking to foster collaborative partnerships between high-potential innovative technology enterprises and supply chains in Hong Kong and mainland China.

By accelerating the commercialisation of their products, the project seeks to expand distribution networks in Hong Kong, mainland China, and internationally. Six promising companies will be selected for the six-month programme – which starts in 2025.

“The ‘Beyond Dreams’ China Booster project will enable us to tap into China Resources’ resources in mainland China,” explained Albert Wong, CEO of HKSTP. “Combined with the comprehensive support that HKSTP consistently provides to startups at different stages of their entrepreneurial journey, we are confident this will help them commercialise their innovative ideas, expand into mainland and global markets, and achieve long-term success.”

Backing international growth through collaboration

Through the project, HKSTP and China Resources aim to position Hong Kong as an international I&T centre in line with the national development strategy.

Chen Ying, assistant general manager of China Resources Group, also said: “We hope that through this platform, we can help Hong Kong’s startups overcome market entry barriers and accelerate the implementation and development of innovative projects.”

China Resources and HKSTP will collect requirements and location preferences from selected teams and customise mainland acceleration programmes to align with their business characteristics and industry needs. China Resources Group will also leverage its resources to connect these teams with suitable mainland cities and industrial parks, offering diversified resources and services.

The project will also look to improve and increase the local talent pool in the I&T ecosystem. It enables young talent to gain practical experience and participate in training with companies based at the Science Park campus, fostering their potential to take on more innovative roles in entrepreneurship and future career development. The programme collaborates closely with local universities to integrate and leverage incubation resources, creating synergy and promoting resource sharing while collectively driving the growth and realisation of innovative projects.
