In 2003, Tyro launched in Australia to disrupt and advance the established EFTPOS market in the company. Over two decades later, the company is continuing to innovate, as it launches its new embedded payment solution enabling businesses to accept tap-to-pay payments via any device and point-of-sale (POS) system.
Tyro’s embedded payments software development kit (SDK) allows software innovators to integrate Tyro’s tap-to-pay technology directly into iOS and android devices, apps and point-of-sale (POS) systems. Once embedded into a ‘tappable’ NFC POS system or device, Australian merchants can easily accept payments without a separate terminal.
The new embedded payments solution means merchants can start taking payments sooner with their own Android or iOS software. They no longer need an additional EFTPOS device to take payments. Another benefit of the new solution is that it creates a smooth customer checkout experience, allowing merchants to handle POS and payments all in one device.
Furthermore, the service will save merchants money as they won’t need to pay EFTPOS rental fees. Customers with a fee-free Tyro Bank Account will get even more benefits as they will be able to access the funds paid by customers at any point on every day of the week.
Jon Davey, CEO, Tyro
Tyro CEO, Jon Davey said, “Tyro’s mission is to make payments the easiest part of doing business. With our embedded payments, merchants get a hassle-free, tap-to-pay system in any device. We’re thrilled to be launching this solution with our valued POS partners, offering Australian merchants another simple way to create seamless experiences for their customers.”
Tyro’s Embedded Payments solution is now live for merchants using Liven, Metapos and Ivida POS systems. The Tyro Embedded Payments SDK is available now for software developers and POS partners, suitable to be developed to existing iOS or Android devices that support NFC technology.
