Robinhood Launches ‘Accessible’ Options Trading for UK Customers

Robinhood, the US-based investment platform which launched in the UK last year, has launched options trading for its UK customers.

Using Robinhood, customers in the UK can now trade options on stocks and indices. Index options, in particular, enable customers to trade on broad market indices, offering more diversification and flexibility.

Option trading is a popular alternative to stock trading, and enables consumers to buy and sell contracts which give them the right to buy or sell an asset at a specific price. Investors can choose to predict whether the price of an asset will rise or fall within a specific time frame.

Jordan Sinclair, president of Robinhood UK

“Options trading has historically been difficult for UK investors to access due to high fees, complicated platforms, and limited educational resources,” explained Jordan Sinclair, president of Robinhood UK. “We’re excited to roll out a US options trading experience that is both affordable and accessible, and leverages Robinhood’s powerful suite of tools to help UK investors take control of their financial future.”

To help its users understand the new trading method and feel confident with it, Robinhood is offering a range of educational resources, including an options guide and video series. The investment platform also offers Options Strategy Builder and Simulated Returns tools to help users build and execute option strategies.

Robinhood is also offering customers trade options with no contract fees for all orders placed up until 17 May 2025. After this promo ends, trade options will include a $0.50 contract fee.

As it continues to expand its footprint on the UK’s investment market, Robinhood plans to add new products and features for UK customers in the near future, bringing the best of local solutions such as an ISA, as well as more of the tools, products and technology Robinhood is renowned for.
