Mollie Launches Tap to Pay on iPhone in Ireland, Enabling Merchants to Enhance Checkouts

Mollie, one of Europe’s fastest-growing payment platforms, has enabled Tap to Pay on iPhone for its Irish customers, enabling businesses of all sizes to accept contactless payments via its app.

Tap to Pay on iPhone, which launched last month for Mollie’s 250,000 customers in the Netherlands, France and Germany, is now available for merchants in Ireland, allowing them to unlock the benefits of Tap to Pay on iPhone instantly through the Mollie app.

The launch enables businesses to use the Mollie app on an iPhone XS, or any later model, to accept contactless payments without the need to purchase or manage additional hardware.

Koen Köppen, CEO of Mollie

“Tap to Pay on iPhone represents a significant step forward in simplifying and securing the payment process for merchants and consumers alike,” explained Koen Köppen, CEO of Mollie. “Merchants can now offer a seamless, fast and contactless experience with just an iPhone that their customers can trust. We are proud to support businesses of all sizes with an innovation that combines state-of-the-art security with the convenience that today’s customers expect.”

In line with Mollie’s mission to make money management effortless for every business in Europe, it says the move will further empower its customers with a convenient and secure way to accept payments.

With Tap to Pay on iPhone at checkout, the merchant can prompt the customer to hold their contactless payment near the merchant’s iPhone, and the payment will be securely completed using NFC technology. Tap to Pay on iPhone also supports PIN entry, which includes accessibility options.

Apple’s Tap to Pay on iPhone technology uses the built-in features of iPhone to keep the business and customer data private and secure. When a payment is processed, Apple doesn’t store card numbers or transaction information on the device or on Apple servers.
