Bourgeois Bohème, the platform for high-net-worth individuals and family offices, is launching dual-sided contactless technology in the form of a Mastercard-certified gold-coated payment card.
Bourgeois Bohème is launching dual-interface contactless technology fully embedded into a metal structure, in a move to offer a more premium option than other metal card offerings, which rely on a plastic layer to enable contactless payments on one side.

The new card is made with a cupronickel core, aluminium, and a scratch-resistant anodised gold coating, enabling tap payments from both sides.
Contactless payments are booming, with transactions in the EU increasing by 13.2 per cent to €25.8billion in the first half of 2024, totalling €0.7trillion. Despite this, most metal cards still lack contactless functionality or rely on plastic layers for one-sided payments. Demand for premium metal cards is also on the up, and is projected to grow 16.4 per cent annually through 2030. As much as 51 per cent of consumers said they would consider switching banks for one that offers a metal payment card.
Years in the making

“Metal naturally interferes with electromagnetic fields, making this functionality incredibly difficult to achieve,” explained Hugo Gomez, co-founder and CEO of Bourgeois Bohème.
“It took years of collaboration with our partners to accomplish what no other fintech has done before—integrating dual-sided contactless tech into an all-metal card without the need for plastic. The result is a payment card that feels more premium than anything I’ve ever held.”
Weighing 18 grams, the golden card enables seamless transactions of up to €1,000,000, and looks to remove the delays, support calls, and compliance bottlenecks typical of traditional banking.
The first 10 cards are exclusively available to Legend members, Bourgeois Bohème’s elite membership tier, which offers dedicated relationship managers for 24/7 lifestyle support and a suite of premium financial tools. Additional orders beyond the initial 10-card release will require a waiting period of five to seven months.
Beyond this technology, the golden card is part of Bourgeois Bohème’s broader embedded payment ecosystem, which extends beyond traditional cards. The financial management platform offers wearable payment accessories such as rings, leather bracelets, jewellery charms, and key fobs, as well as bespoke chip integration into luxury items like watches, gloves, and cufflinks.
